The wrong questions

Posted: July 23, 2017 in Uncategorized

When we are living from a place of resting, we find that we begin to experience the return of dream states. In a dream state possibilities are presented to our imagination in vividness. A dream has the perception of reality without the limitations of reality. In this state we are capable of taking actions we would not normally take because at some level we are aware that the dream state is a place designed to allow parts of our consciousness which are usually repressed to come out and have their field day.

Limitations are not inherently bad, but often we live more conscious of that which constrains us than that which propels us on. When we are resting in the shadow of the Almighty, what normally would seem impossible begins to appear as practical, wise, and sensible.

We already live in a dream world, which we foolishly call “reality.” Most of us are entertaining the wrong inner storytellers; the wrong angels. Our imagined prisons of futility and despair are every bit as much a construct of the mind as the possibilities the kingdom offers, but with a major difference: the anti-kingdom dreams are, brick by brick, built upon lies.

We think a man a fool if he gives himself to a dream and it does not come about as he hoped. But scripture says people like that are commended right along with those whose dreams came to pass exactly as they hoped. Jesus wants to return to find us laying the bricks to an unfinished road, or house, or city. We know we cannot build God’s utopia in its fullness now, but our work can enflesh little embassies of that world. The Lord expects to find us exploring that world, failing for it, dying for that allegiance now, in the “mean” time.

We battle against despair. We battle for hope. If the enemy cannot draw us directly into sin he will fight a war of attrition and try to wear out our patience by a slow attack on our hope. Once our hope is gone, getting us to sin is usually easy.

But when we are living from a place of resting, we find that we begin to experience the return of dream states…
