C.T. Studd, 1914

My favorite quote from Studd is this little couplet:

Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell
I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell

He was a professional cricket player before he heard the call of God to go into foreign missions.  In 1914 he was privileged to be involved in a dramatic revival in the Congo.  He reports the following:

“The whole place was charged as if with an electric current.  Men were falling, jumping, laughing, crying, singing, confessing and some shaking terribly,” he reported.  “As I led in prayer the Spirit came down in mighty power sweeping the congregation.  My whole body trembled with the power.  We saw a marvelous sight, people literally filled and drunk with the Spirit.”
