“Sent” Part 1: Pentecost

Posted: June 12, 2011 in Tim's Sermons

This is part 1 of a series titled, “Sent,” in which we will consider the missionary character of God and therefore the missionary calling of God’s people.  God sent His Son, the Son sent the Spirit, the Spirit sends the church.  Part 1 is Pentecost.

Questions for groups

1.)  What was wrong with the whole “tower of Babel” project?  How can you tell what people’s lives center around?

2.)  What was God’s intent in calling Abram and in making covenant with Israel?

3.)  How did so many nationalities and languages come to be represented in Jerusalem on Pentecost?

4.)  What is the relationship between Acts 1:8 and Acts 8:1?

5.)  Why did Jesus tell his disciples to wait in Jerusalem?  Do you think that same “waiting in Jerusalem” still applies to us today in some way?
